Matthew Parmenter, DPM attended Indiana University and then earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree at Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago. He obtained surgical training in orthopaedic and podiatric surgery in five Chicago hospitals. In addition, Dr. Parmenter is trained in AO/ASIF technique for repair of foot and ankle trauma by Synthesis International. He also trained with one of the founders of the American Fracture Society with fellowship in reconstructive surgery and fracture repair of the foot and ankle.

He is board-certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery, Inc. in foot and ankle surgery and has certification in CO2 laser surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot Surgeons, an associate in the American College of Podiatric Sports Medicine, a member of the American Diabetes Association and a member of the American College of Sports Medicine. Dr. Parmenter developed the Diabetic Foot Salvage Technique with antibiotic bead implant and surgical repair of the diabetic foot. Patients come from across the nation for this procedure. He also helped establish the Diabetic Foot Clinic at Bloomington Hospital and is the founder of the Bloomington Hospital Wound Healing Center. He is a consultant for several organizations including Johnson & Johnson, COOK and the American Diabetes Association. Dr. Parmenter also serves as an associate professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at Indiana University School of Medicine.

Michael E. Berend, MD

Dr. Berend has always loved science and health. He studied chemistry at Hanover College, then went on to Duke University Medical Center to pursue orthopedic surgery, representing the top 10% of his medical school class. Known by his classmates for his charismatic personality, he was chosen to be the graduation commencement speaker. Berend moved to Mooresville to complete a fellowship in joint replacement surgery at the Center for Hip and Knee Surgery, then continued to practice there for 16 years.

Not only is Dr. Berend an expert in his craft, he is also an innovator. During the past decade, he has helped design multiple hip, knee, and partial knee implant systems. He has trained over 3,000 surgeons in his specialized surgical techniques and has published over 90 peer-reviewed articles in medical journals. He is 1 of 50 members in the USA of both the Knee Society and the Hip Society. Dr. Berend has been recognized by his peers as one of the top surgeons in North America.

Dr. Berend is deeply passionate about his career. He has traveled internationally with Operation Walk, a Christian medical mission organization performing free joint replacements around the world — one of the most fulfilling projects in his life.

In his free time, Dr. Berend is a pilot and has been flying for over 32 years. When he’s not up in the air, he’s raising three amazing children with his wife Julie. He is active in Redeemer Presbyterian Church and enjoys cycling.

Wesley G. Lackey, MD

Born and raised in Evansville, Indiana, Dr. Lackey attended Vanderbilt University where he earned a degree in Violin Performance and fulfilled his pre-medical requirements. He then attended Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. During his time in Indianapolis, Dr. Lackey met Dr. Berend through their church, and they continued a friendship through the rest of Dr. Lackey’s education.

After medical school, Dr. Lackey moved to South Carolina to complete his five-year orthopedic surgical residency with the Greenville Hospital System. He then returned to Indianapolis and completed a hip and knee fellowship under the tutelage of Dr. Berend. Lackey and Berend have been in practice together ever since.

Dr. Lackey has also traveled internationally with Operation Walk, a Christian medical mission organization performing free joint replacements around the world.

Outside the operating room, Dr. Lackey enjoys spending time with his lovely wife, Gillian, their son, and their spirited Westie, Parker.

Joshua L. Carter, MD

Dr. Carter completed his undergraduate degree with Summa Cum Laude honors at the University of Kentucky with a perfect 4.0 GPA. He earned a full-ride scholarship to attend the UK College of Medicine where he graduated with AOA honors. During medical school, Dr. Carter fueled a passion of his by spending two months in a mission hospital in Kenya, performing orthopedic care in the third world.

During his five-year orthopedic surgery residency training at the University of Vermont, Dr. Carter was introduced to Dr. Berend and Dr. Lackey, and new friendships began to grow. These relationships continued to flourish throughout his Adult Reconstruction Fellowship, which he completed at the highly regarded OrthoCarolina Hip and Knee Center in Charlotte, NC. Dr. Carter has been in practice in the Indianapolis area ever since. He specializes in the direct anterior approach to total hip replacement surgery.

When out of his hospital scrubs, Dr. Carter enjoys woodworking, coffee roasting, and disc golf. He is active in his church, and is richly blessed with his loving wife, Jessica, and four exuberant kids who still can’t outwrestle him.

Scott Linger, MD gradated with 'highest-distinction' and was the 2007 valedictorian in Purdue University's School of Pharmacy. He would go on to be a pharmacist for one year before enrolling in Indiana University's School of Medicine. Dr. Linger became an M.D. in 2012 with 'highest-distinction.' He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency from Indiana University's School of Medicine in 2017. Dr. Linger most recently completed his orthopaedic sports medicine and shoulder fellowship at TRIA Orthopaedic Center and the University of Minnesota.
